M Med in Family Medicine
A 4-year programme for the medical practitioner who wishes to do a Masters in Family Medicine degree. The programme is predominantly online education with obligatory attendance at the 3-4 day contact session in January of each year.

Students must spend 4 years in a Registrar post in one of the 4 Training Complexes in the Western Cape. Registrars will rotate in the complex between the Regional Hospital, District Hospitals and Community Health Centres to obtain the necessary professional experience. During the 4 years, the Registrar must also complete the module, Clinical Family Medicine, which covers ten clinical domains relevant to Family Medicine.
Over the 4 years, candidates complete the module Clinical Family Medicine, which covers ten clinical domains relevant to Family Medicine, as well as 10 web-based modules and a research assignment. The practical skills required of graduates are to be found in the logbook.

M Phil in Family Medicine
The M Phil Degree programme serves as a non-clinical Masters qualification. It is designed for any registered health professional (NQF level 8 and above) who is interested in the development of the discipline of Family Medicine, particularly its research base in Sub-Saharan Africa. The goal is to build capacity in supervising, teaching, coordinating academic teaching, and conducting research in Family Medicine and Primary Care. The programme is fully described in the attached brochure.

Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine
A 2-year course leading to a Diploma in Family Medicine for medical practitioners who wish to expand and update their knowledge and skills in Family Medicine. Diploma students must pass 6 academic modules and their final exit exam. The programme is fully described in the attached brochure.

The Diploma is provided by online education with compulsory attendance at the 5-day contact session at the beginning of year one.
Successful participation in each module enables you to earn 10 CEU points.
